I was talking the other day with someone that was visiting Lisbon for the first time. He was saying that after visiting a lot of amazing cities in Europe he had not great expetations regarding Lisbon. But than he said something like this... "i don't know if it is the light, the green, the river, the monuments, the facades of buildings or even the food or the people, but now i believe that i am in the presence of one of the cities i like the most".
I do believe that it is all that. For me, the thing regarding Lisbon is that Lisbon surprises. Lisbon is made of contraditions, the new and the old blended togehter, the Saudade of fado to the summer festivals, the river and the sea, the tram and the trafic, the websummit and the old distrits like Alfama, Mouraria and Bairro Alto, all togheter creates an good feeling, a feeling of belonging. That is why people come, not just to visit Lisbon, but to live in Lisbon. And Lisbon wellcomes everyone. Yes, you are wellcome!
