When I was a kid, I used to hang myself at the back of the tram to get a ride in Lisbon. This was, for us kids, the best way to travel.
The Americans

The precursors of electric vehicles, in 1873, were called Americans, circulated on rails but were pulled by horses. In 1887 the process of electrification of the network was initiated and it underwent several updates until the present day. With many ups and downs, the Tram has survived to the present day becoming a key part of the city of lisbon and an important landmark for tourism!

Truly recommend you get to know lisbon using the Tram!!!
The Tram 12 circulates in the most central part of the city of Lisbon, connecting the Baixa (down town) to the neighborhoods of Mouraria, Alfama and Castelo. Circling through São Tomé, allows the fast connection between Martim Moniz and Largo do Portas do Sol.
The Tram 15 links Lisbon to the western zone. This is the Tram you should catch if you want to go to Belém area and visit the Tower of Belém, the Jerónimos, the CCB or simply eat the famous pastry Pasteis de Belém.
The Tram 28 is the best seller of the city of Lisbon. A sinuous profile line, which crosses mostly old buildings. It is one of the most sought-after careers by tourists in conjunction with 12E and 15E. It serves various parishes of the city, such as Campo de Ourique, Estrela, Misericórdia and São Vicente de Fora, passing through the historic center.
Last but not least, the trip for Lisbon's Trams will never be completed without a visit to Museu do Eléctrico na Ajuda!
